What's All the Buzz About?

Honey! Did you know honey has amazing effects on your skin and hair? It's a natural humectant, keeps moisture in, conditions your luscious locks... it's pretty versatile! So yes, all the buzz really is about honey! Just check out many of the popular beauty magazines, it's everywhere! Here's some quick info on why it is a fantastic product to incorporate into your weekly beauty routine.

HAIR:
Honey makes for a great conditioner! There are so many ways you can work it into your conditioning routine as well. It's a natural humectant so it locks moisture in both hair and skin. Try mixing one part honey to two parts olive oil and massage into your hair after you've shampooed. You can leave this in for one hour to penetrate your strands and deeply condition them. Wash off thoroughly and feel how soft your hair is once dry. It adds shine, too!

You can also try what I refer to as the 3-2-1 mask. Mix 3 tablespoons of olive oil with 2 tablespoons of honey and warm the concoction up. And 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and mix well. Apply this to your scalp for 30 minutes then rinse out. Same concept as above but the added lemon juice rids your scalp of any dry patches or flakes you may suffer from. I do! Psoriasis is a... pain in the rear.

SKIN:

Here comes our good ole friend rose water again! Mix 1/4 cup honey with just a few splashes of rose water and apply to your skin. Leave it on for about 15 minutes and when you rinse it off you will have super soft hydrated skin! Try it and let me know!

Speaking of masks, I found in various articles how egg yokes can tighten your skin! So a common at-home mask can be made with an egg yolk, a teaspoon of honey, and a teaspoon of olive oil. If you leave this well mixed mask on your face for about twenty minutes you'll feel your skin tighten and over time it will get a natural glow to it. Try this once a week for a month to see the results effectively.

Another quick tip is just to drizzle a little honey in your bath water. This will help to regularly keep your skin glowing. Yes, even just a little will do magic! You can even use honey as a chap stick!

Ever notice how bath products and beauty brands include honey so often in their labels? It has amazing properties and is most importantly affordable! And a head's up, I'm totally making some homemade beauty products this month and you can bet your bottom dollar honey is in some of them! Stay tuned! Thanks for stopping by!
